The name Bloodworms usually refers to the larvae of mosquitoes of the genus Chironomus (not the biting mosquitoes, but a non-biting species). They are among the most well-known and beloved live and frozen foods for aquarium fish.
Suitable for:
Medium and large-sized carnivorous and omnivorous fish (cichlids, bettas, gouramis, barbs, rainbowfish, predators).
Not so much for very small fry (they are large)
They provide the natural hunting instinct.
Caution:
They should not be given as the only food (too protein > risk of obesity or digestive problems).
