AQUARIUMSHOP

Platy Sunset Gold is a striking, peaceful and hardy variety of the species Xiphophorus maculatus, which belongs to the well-known viviparous fish (i.e. they give birth to live young). It is an excellent choice for beginners and for those who want a colorful, active fish in a community aquarium.
Body golden or orange, often with a metallic sheen (“Sunset”). The body is short and round, with small fins. Males have a characteristic gonopodium. Females are more massive and have a more rounded belly. Peaceful and social fish, ideal for a community aquarium.
It prefers to live in groups of 1 male for every 2–3 females (so that the females do not suffer from constant flirting). Active, swims at all levels of the aquarium.
Minimum size: 60 liters for a small group (3–5 individuals).Substrate: Neutral gravel or sand.Plants: Ideally planted aquarium with dense areas (e.g. Vallisneria, Hygrophila, Java moss), where the little ones can hide.Lighting: Moderate to bright (brings up the colors).Decoration: Plants, roots, stones, but leave open space for swimming.
Omnivore.Food: Flakes or pellets for tropical fish.Frozen/live foods: daphnia, artemia, bloodworms.Plant foods or vegetables (e.g. boiled spinach, peas). For intense color, it is good to give food with carotenoids or spirulina.  ...More
