AQUARIUMSHOP

Corydoras pygmaeus (also known as Dwarf Cory or Pygmy Corydoras) is a small, peaceful and highly social bottom fish, ideal for planted aquariums and community tanks with small, calm fish. It is one of the smallest species of the Callichthyidae family. Small, silvery body with a characteristic horizontal black stripe extending from the snout to the base of the tail. Transparent fins. Males are slightly smaller and thinner, while females are more plump. Peaceful and social fish; should be kept in a group of at least 6–8 individuals. It spends most of its time near the bottom or in the lower layers of the aquarium, but unlike other Corydoras, the pygmaeus also swims in the middle zone. It occasionally rises to the surface to take in air (this is normal for the species).
Minimum size: 40 liters for a small group, ideally 60+ liters.
Substrate: Soft sand (not gravel!) to avoid damaging their delicate whiskers.
Decoration: Dense planting, roots, wood, catappa leaves, shaded areas.
Lighting: Moderate, not intense.
Omnivore. Diet: Bottom foods (pellets, wafers). Frozen or live foods: artemia, daphnia, bloodworms, grindal worms. Microfoods in powder or small granules. It is ideal to give it a variety of foods, with an emphasis on high-quality proteins.  ...More
