The Emperor Tetra is a particularly elegant tetra, known for its characteristic "imperial" appearance and relatively calm behavior.
Peaceful but more "imperial" than smaller tetras.
Males may show slight aggression towards each other, but rarely seriously.
Best kept in groups of 6+ (ideally with more females).
Gets along with other small peaceful fish (e.g. Corydoras, rasboras, small other tetras).
Liters: From 80L and up for a school.
Temperature: 23–27°C.
pH: 5.0 – 7.5 (ideally slightly acidic to neutral, ~6.0–6.8).
Hardness: 2–15 dGH.
Decoration: Densely planted aquarium with open swimming areas. Roots and wood are recommended, as well as a substrate in dark tones for better color enhancement.
Water flow: Gentle to moderate, mimics the streams of its natural area.
Omnivorous. Accepts flakes, micro-pellets, frozen and live foods (artemia, daphnia, grindal worms). Variety helps enhance the colors.  ...More

Size: 4–5 cm, rarely up to 6 cm.
Lifespan: 4–6 years.
Appearance: Body with metallic iridescent sheen (purple–blue or green depending on lighting), strong black line along the body, large eyes (often blue). Males have longer fins and display a "trident-shaped tail".
