Glowlight Tetra M
The Glowlight Tetra (Hemigrammus erythrozonus) is one of the most popular small tetras due to its elegant appearance and calm character.
Size: 4–5 cm maximum.
Appearance: transparent to silver body with a striking orange-red luminous line that starts from the eye and ends at the tail.
Eyes: have a characteristic metallic orange/red glow.
Behavior: peaceful, lively schooling fish. Looks best in groups.
Lifespan: 3–5 years in the right conditions.
Minimum aquarium size: 60 cm long (70+ liters) for a school.
Schooling fish: at least 8–10 individuals to feel secure.
Temperature: 23–28 °C.
pH: 5.5–7.5 (ideally slightly acidic).
Hardness (dGH): 2–12.
Water flow: gentle, with good filtration.
Decoration: planted aquarium, with shade from surface plants, wood and leaves that imitate blackwater. Needs open space for swimming.
Lighting: moderate. In lower lighting the light strip looks more intense.
Omnivorous. Feeds on flakes, micropellets, frozen and live foods (artemia, daphnia, bloodworms).
For vibrant colors, variety in the diet is recommended.

Distribution: Native to Guyana (South America).

Very peaceful, ideal for social aquariums with other small tetras, rasboras, corydoras and shrimp.
Avoid keeping with large or aggressive fish.
