In the wild it colonizes the banks of rivers and marshes at altitudes above 1,000 m. Its grassy appearance is similar to that of Helanthium tenellum, which is why it is sometimes referred to as "false tenellum". You will have no problem growing it in an aquarium. It prefers fairly cold temperatures and grows extremely slowly, regardless of whether your tank has soft or hard water. Root pruning, as with lawns, encourages compact growth.
